August 2014 Convention
Chicago, IL

Chicago welcomed us to the 42nd annual National Flute Association Convention

More than 2,000 people attended “Perform, Inspire, Educate!” August 6-10 in Chicago, Illinois, not only the host of the 2014 NFA Annual Convention but also the new home of the NFA itself. Festivities featured a bundle of teachers, both participating and honored; NFA 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award recipients Robert Dick and Maxence Larrieu and Distinguished Service Award recipient Patti Adams presenting in concerts and masterclasses; and performances galore of NFA-commissioned works. An exhibit hall exploded with diverse flutes, music, and flute-related products. New competitions joined seasoned ones in another year’s offering of outstanding young artists. Throughout the convention, emerging stars mixed and mingled with longtime friends and leaders. And a very special work of art, commissioned especially for this year’s convention logo, went to one lucky lottery winner. We hope all participants, as well as the viewers of the pages here, will return to their fluting ready to perform, inspire, and educate!

See you in Washington, D.C. in August 2015!
