The 39th annual National Flute Association Convention
is now one for the Ages.

Over 2,700 people from the U.S. and countries across the globe came together in Charlotte, North Carolina, for "Unity Through Diversity: Many Flutists, One World." Gala concert performers included Rachel Brown and the Dorian Consort, Bruno Ferrandis conducting the world premiere of Mike Wofford's Tapestry 39, commissioned for this concert, and NFA 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Carol Wincenc, among many other stellar performers. An exhibit hall exploding with diverse flutes, music, and flute-related products; workshops and lectures; masterclasses; and competitions yielding a new crop of outstanding young artists were among the many other activities of the convention.

The pages posted here feature images and accounts of the convention, held August 11–14, 2011.
