Illuminations Flute Orchestra Opening Program

Following the NFA annual meeting, the Illuminations Flute Orchestra, conducted by Wendy Kumer, performed a varied program opening with "Carillon Fanfare" by Steven Tung and followed by Ricky Lombardo's arrangement of "Ashokan Farewell" and Rondeau from Symphonies and Fanfares by Mouret, arranged by Ann Cameron Pearce. Among highlights was The Secret Language of Snow in three movements by Kirk Vogel and my own "There is No Rose" (by Phyllis Avidan Louke), followed by "Flute Fanfaria" by Melvin Lauf, Jr., and Kathy Farmer's arrangement of "Little Red Monkey" by Jack Jordon. The most beautiful piece on the program was "Salvation is Created" by Pavel Tschensnokoff, arranged by Behrens. Rounding out the program were "Tournament Galop" by Gottschalk, arranged by Trevor Wye; Bill Holcombe's arrangement of "You Made Me Love You" by James Monaco; "Hunting Wabbits" by Gordon Goodwin; and "Postlude Joy" by Stephen Tung.
