Professional Flute Choir

The Professional Flute Choir, conducted by David Gilbert, performed a program full of premieres. It was programmed as an homage to conductor David Gilbert’s flute teacher, Charles DeLaney, and DeLaney’s own “Scrambling” opened the concert, followed by “Tyger! Tyger!” by David Johnson, “Song for Susan” by Mike Garson, and “Blackie and Max” by Jim Walker, with Leah Arsenault as featured soloist.

NFA premieres included “Canyon Dreams” by Phyllis Avidan Louke, “Estrellita” by Ruben Flores, and “The Juniper Tree” by Christopher Prosser. The concert also included the world premiere of “Transverses” by Judy Nishimura and narrated by Andra Bohnet. This piece was the winner of the 2015 Flute Choir Composition Competition.
