Flute Choir Showcase No. 4

The first group performing in the final flute choir showcase was Flutissimo! from the Dallas-Ft. Worth area in a Halloween-themed program complete with witches hats. The program included “Danse des Mysteres” by Jonathan Cohen, “Mysterious Mansion” by Ricky Lombardo, “Halloween Hi-Jinks” by Alexander N. Abbott, and “The Witches’ Recipe” by David W. Solomons.

The Golden Flute Choir of Taiwan, directed by Sabina Shu-Chun Chiang, performed next with a program that included “Arrival of the Queen of Sheba” by George Frideric Handel and arranged by Zill, the world premiere of “Rhapsody of Aboriginal Songs” by Ting-Yi Ma, “Promenade (Walking the Dog)” by George Gershwin and arranged by Denwood, and Kamioka’s arrangement of Grieg’s Holberg Suite.

Rounding out the program was Flutes on the Bayou, based in Houston and directed by Michael Isadore, performing “Sherzo-Polka” by Konrad M. Øhrn, “Black is the Color of My True Love’s Hair” by Ricky Lombardo, and Trygve Madsen’s Suite, Op. 146.
