The Professional Flute Choir, an auditioned ensemble, opened its program with the U.S. premiere of Harvey Sollberger’s A m?me rive…signes désaccordés, chemins épars… (Toward the Same Shore…Clashing signs, Scattered Paths), conducted by the composer. With Ervin Monroe at the baton, the program continued with the world premiere of Nordic Spirits by Till MacIvor Meyn, a piece filled with ethereal melodies and energetic tribal chants in mixed meter.  Program concluded with two pieces by Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Ervin Monroe: Loch Lomond: Dreams and Variations and Variations on an Ancient Pavane.

In the Gala Closing concert, the Professional Flute Choir performed Monroe’s arrangements of Melody, Op. 35, No. 1 by Reinhold Gliere, and “Flight of the Bumblebee.”
