A Message from NFA President Joanna Bassett

Our flute community is unique and generous!
The National Flute Association is an organization of people who care deeply about creating opportunities for others to experience the power of music.

Minneapolis scholarship recipient Kemunto Onchera plays her new flute, purchased with funds from the NFA Endowment.

When you contribute to the NFA, you are making an impact in the lives of thousands of flutists year-round. Here are some of the most exciting ways that we’ve utilized NFA member donations in the last year.

  • Provided $12,000 in scholarships for flute lessons to six deserving students in low-income communities in Chicago, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Nashville, San Diego, and Washington, D.C., and purchased a new flute for the student in Minneapolis
  • Hosted 10 young flutists from the Orlando area and supported 26 college interns at the annual convention
  • Initiated the Roger Mather and Betty Bang Mather Baroque Flute Study program, and purchased new middle joints for the six instruments available for loan with instruction
  • Commissioned new solo flute pieces by Eve Beglarian, Valerie Coleman and Augusta Read Thomas for the 2018 convention competitions

I invite you to join me in making a contribution to the NFA and help us continue to thrive and create opportunities for flutists worldwide. Your gift of any size will make a difference in what we can provide to our flutists!

With appreciation,

Joanna Bassett
