The National Flute Association sponsors 14 competitions to select outstanding flutists to perform at its conventions. Six are solo and chamber music: Young Artist, Piccolo Artist (biennial), Chamber Artist (biennial), Baroque Flute Artist (biennial), High School Soloist, and Convention Performers. Cash prizes are provided for the Young Artist, Piccolo Artist, Baroque Artist, High School Soloist, and Orchestral Audition/Masterclass Competitions. There are five Masterclass competitions: one for Solo Performers, one for Piccolo (biennial), one for Jazz Flute (biennial), one for Baroque Flute (biennial), and an Orchestral Audition/Masterclass. There are three flute choirs: High School, Professional, and Jazz Flute Big Band (biennial).

If I want to enter the competitions, what fees do I need to pay?
Fees vary for different competitions. They are listed on our Web site. In addition, you must join the NFA and pay dues for the year in which you audition. If you are chosen, you also must pay dues for the upcoming year in which you compete.
