The National Flute Association established The David Hart Fund in 1988 in remembrance of David Hart, internationally recognized for his performances on baroque and Renaissance flutes. The fund, a subfund of the endowment, supports the David Hart Prize, first prize of the NFA Baroque Flute Artist Competition, with the eventual goal of underwriting all of the prize money for the Baroque Flute Artist Competition. The competition is held triennially at NFA conventions and attracts outstanding baroque flutists up to the age of 30. The next competition will be held in August 2012 in Las Vegas.
