Coming Soon: The Summer Flutist Quarterly

Including the Special Convention Insert

Our cover story by Abigail Sperling portrays the artistry of flutemaker Claude Laurent. His exquisitely rendered glass flutes were created specifically to be objects d’art—and, in the process, contributed to modern flutemaking methods. In his article, author Jorge Caryveschi takes a fresh look at Astor Piazzolla’s iconic Histoire de Tango. Linda Kirkpatrick, 30-year veteran summer camp administrator, offers guidelines on how to keep these masterclass programs productive, efficient, and safe.
Articles by NFA President Kyle Dzapo and John Bailey profile 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award recipients Eva Kingma and András Adorján, respectively. Kate Blair describes how your generous donations to the endowment fund have helped talented flutists nationwide. And our annual insert provides a detailed program schedule for the 46th Annual NFA Convention. The magazine will be mailed and posted online soon!
