High School Flute Choir Competition

2021 competitions are now closed. Repertoire requirements for next year are scheduled to be announced in August.

All 2021 NFA competitions will be held virtually!

The High School Flute Choir Competition will select high school flutists to perform in the High School Flute Choir during the 2021 NFA Convention. All entrants must have been full-time students enrolled in an accredited institution during the 2020-2021 academic year in grades 9-12 or the equivalent and between the ages of 14 and 19 on the first day of the convention. Entrants may be required to show proof of age.

All entrants must play the C flute selection. Entrants wishing to perform on piccolo must include the corresponding repertoire below. Entrants chosen to participate in the High School Flute Choir during convention may be requested to perform on alto and/or bass flute. Demonstrating proficiency on either or both instruments may increase your chances of being accepted into the ensemble. Accepted students will be asked to play an alto or bass flute if they have access to one or if their private teachers have access to one.

Coordinated by Lindsay Leach-Sparks, the winners of the High School Flute Choir Competition will have the opportunity to:

  • receive flute choir music in April and meet other members of the choir
