Taking place on Sundays at 2:00 PM Central US Time, these interactive Zoom events were crafted with the flute community in mind, designed to inspire and connect. All events are open to the public and free of charge, but advance registration is required. (You can find registration links in the event descriptions.)

NFA members have put together a diverse and dynamic roster of experiences, drawing on the expertise, talent, and passion of an exciting cross-section of flutists. We hope you'll join the conversation!

December 10th - The Big Blue Flute Book: A Crash Course to Using A Flutist's Vade Mecum by Walfrid Kujala with Emily Boschen - REGISTER

This interactive virtual event will introduce the practice menus used with A Flutist's Vade Mecum by Walfrid Kujala. Play along at home with your own copy and learn how to efficiently use this fantastic book!

December 17th - Harmonics Will Get You High! Or Harmonics: The Flutist’s Pan-acea with Leonard Garrison - REGISTER

Leonard Garrison reveals the magic of harmonics, which lead to precise control of embouchure, air speed, and air direction, strengthen the lip muscles, train the ear, and teach us how the flute works. We will review conflicting ideas on how to change registers on the flute and find the optimal embouchure for flexibility, control, and purity of tone.

January 14th - A Tour of World Flutes with Tereasa Payne - REGISTER

Tereasa Payne will guide you through an exploration of cultures, diversity and world music as she performs solos on world flutes while sharing interesting stories about the history and cultural significance of each of these instruments. Audience Q&A during and after the concert is encouraged and welcomed!

January 21st - Setting the Stage for Positive Performances with Sue Hurwitz - REGISTER 

Learn to fill the space between your dream of a positive performance experience and getting there with confidence. We’ll explore some of the tools to uncover ways to arrive at the confidence within

January 28th - Creating a Safe Space in Your Flute Studios with Paula Gudmundson, Katherine Lewis, Flor Cruz, and the NFA IDEA Committee - REGISTER
Through shared experiences and insightful discussions, a panel of flutists will guide us in cultivating safe and more welcoming environments for all students. Engage in meaningful conversations, gain invaluable insights, and discover practical strategies to foster inclusivity, all while having the chance to interact with our panelists during the Q&A session.


February 4th - Ecuadorian Music Across Time and Space with Ligia Verduga - REGISTER

A short discovery journey about Ecuadorian music. A short history of it and its latest developments in terms of Academic Flute repertoire.
