Music by Black Composers Flute Volume 1 was created in partnership with Music by Black Composers, a project of the Rachel Barton Pine Foundation. It contains 15 beginner and elementary level pieces written by both men and women who come from North America (the United States), South America (Brazil), the Caribbean (Cuba, Dominican Republic, Guadeloupe, Jamaica), Africa (Guinea, Ghana), and Europe (France, England), and the repertoire spans centuries—from purportedly as early as the 1500s to the present.
The purpose of the Special Publications Committee is to solicit and consider proposals for possible projects to be funded and sold by the NFA. The committee is responsible for making proposals to the board and following projects through to completion.
The Special Publications Committee has been active in the NFA for decades. We create and publish works that are of great benefit to the flute community but that often are too niche for major publishers to be interested in. We welcome new members and ideas for publications.
