2026-27 Online Events Application

Applications are DUE Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 11:59pm Central US Time.

The 2026-27 series will begin in September 2026 and continue through March 2027. Sessions will be presented on Sunday afternoons at 2pm Central at three-four-week intervals.

NFA will launch an open application process on April 15, 2026. NFA members are eligible to submit proposals for one-hour (60-minutes) virtual sessions for the 2026-27 Virtual Event Series.

All online sessions are open to the public, not just NFA members, and are posted to the NFA YouTube Channel following the presentation.

Before applying, it is strongly recommended that applicants view the NFA YouTube Channel to see examples of previous events. The following are particularly recommended for review:

These sessions are intended to be a shared exploration of a specific topic or participatory playing experience. Performances are not eligible.

The focus of the series is on flute technique. The most effective presentations are those that are lecture-based with a slide presentation or live demonstration. Play-along sessions are also eligible.

NFA membership is required for applicants, presenters, and panelists – with the exception of one special guest per event who may be exempt from NFA membership.

Eligible session proposals meeting the following guidelines will be reviewed by a committee of NFA representatives.

  1. All applications must be submitted by a current NFA member through the NFA website application form. Emailed applications will not be accepted.
  2. Each individual applicant and each NFA Committee may submit no more than one proposal for the series.
  3. The required length for all sessions is 1 hour (60 minutes) maximum.
  4. Sessions may consist of one of the following, related to flute technique:
    1. Demonstration of an approach or technique
    2. Exploration of a topic of interest to the field
    3. Play-along sessions with remote participation by attendees
  5. Accepted formats for sessions include:
    1. Panel discussions with Q&A (For panel discussions, it is required that the session presenters include a host and no more than three panelists. If presented by an NFA committee, additional committee members beyond the four mentioned above may choose to attend and participate as audience members).
    2. Presentation with slides or active demonstrations
    3. Play-along
  6. All events must demonstrate clear goals and a plan for the event, which might include:
    1. What is the topic and how will it be explored?
    2. What will attendees come away with after attending the session?
    3. Who are the key participants/presenters?
  7. Applicants are required to submit a detailed outline of the session
  8. Applications from flutists who have experience as presenters of online programming are preferred. Please include a link to any video recordings of previous sessions you have presented.
  9. Sessions which specifically promote a service, product, or event are not eligible.
