The Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to a living flutist or flute maker, composer, or author who has shown a profound commitment to music and a dedication to the flute community. The honoree’s achievements have inspired and contributed to the advancement and knowledge of the flute and flute playing. Posthumous nominations are not accepted.

Criteria for Nomination

An individual or commercial member of the NFA may nominate any individual who has influenced a generation or large numbers of flutists through teaching, performing, composing, and/or creating and developing anything that enhances international awareness of the flute and flute playing.

This individual may be living in or outside the United States.

The person’s achievements must have inspired and contributed to the advancement and knowledge of the flute and flute playing.

The nominating person will be limited to no more than two nominations per year and cannot nominate themselves.

The 2026 nominations process has closed. We will announce the award recipient(s) in August.
