Join us as we celebrate NFA’s golden anniversary with a year-long celebration culminating with our return to Chicago, August 11–14, 2022.
Over the past 50 years, much about the NFA has changed—and so has the flute world. To reflect this progress, our special anniversary convention will focus on the idea of evolution. In doing so, we will honor those whose hard work and dedication have built the NFA, celebrate the diverse and richly multifaceted community we are today, and begin to envision who we might be by the time we reach our centennial.
After two virtual summers, this milestone convention will undoubtedly be even more poignant as we meet in person for the first time in three years. So much in our world has changed, but our shared love of the flute and our ability
to inspire and enrich each other’s lives remain constant. We all play an important part in the success of the NFA, from a first-time student attending Youth Day to a life member who hasn’t missed a convention, from
past presidents to summer interns, from seasoned professionals to amateur enthusiasts. The NFA has something to offer flutists from every walk of life, and every member adds an important voice to our community. This convention
will be a celebration of our entire membership.
To that end, we want to know how you’d like to contribute to this very special gathering. As you design your proposals, we’d love for you to expand on the idea of evolution to explore developments in flute performance, instrument making, pedagogy, composition, concert experience, the NFA itself, and anything else you can think of. Special consideration will be given to historical programs that examine significant milestones and achievements of the NFA, as well as programs that highlight the diverse musical voices of today’s flutists.
