New Career Enhancement Grant for Young Artist Competition First-Place Winner

Thanks to Support From Verne Q. Powell Flutes

In addition to the $6,000 first place prize, this year’s Young Artist Competition winner will receive a Career Enhancement Grant of up to $3,000. The purpose of this new grant is to fund a project that advances the winning flutist’s playing/teaching career while also promoting this competition. This project will be developed by the winner, in consultation with the NFA board of directors, and may consist of a concert tour, debut recital, audio/video recording, or a similar type of professional initiative.

All the 2018 Young Artist Competition Prizes, as well as the Career Enhancement Grant, are sponsored by Verne Q. Powell Flutes. “This is a wonderful opportunity for Powell to give back to the NFA organization and to support the rising stars in the flute world,” said Powell General Manager Mark Spuria. “Powell is also thrilled to provide support for the first-ever NFA Career Enhancement Grant.”

“The NFA is proud to introduce the Career Enhancement Grant as part of the 40th Annual Young Artist Competition,” said NFA Executive Director Kelly Jocius. “We look forward to supporting the development of this young flutist beyond this year’s convention, and we are so grateful to Verne Q. Powell Flutes for helping make this possible."
