Teddie Talks Traverso: The ART of the Articulation Silence

Virtual Event

Description

Learn the secret to baroque articulation and practice with other enthusiastic flutists! Contrary to general modern flute technique, stopping the sound with the tongue and creating the so-called "articulation silence" is one of the hallmarks of baroque flute playing. This is especially useful in defining affect, clarity, and musical shapes in baroque music, and can be applied to modern flute playing just as effectively. Join Teddie Hwang (chair NFA Historical Flutes Committee) as she'll demystify the topics surrounding this technique and baroque articulation in general. Both baroque and modern flutists are warmly welcomed!
