Our 2026 convention will take place in Portland, Oregon, a destination that represents westward expansion, hopes, and dreams. We want to honor origins, the products of imagination, and what has come to life in the hands of trailblazers throughout the world. We also want to celebrate the pathways of the flute in America, as we celebrate the Semiquincentennial (250th) anniversary of the United States.

Each August, thousands of flutists gather at the annual NFA Convention for four days of performances, masterclasses, competitions, and workshops. The convention welcomes flutists of all kinds - professionals, amateurs, students, and everyone in between - to learn, listen, grow, and bond over their shared love of the flute. In between events, guests can wander the lively exhibit hall to shop for instruments, music, and accessories from their favorite vendors, or step outside to enjoy all that Portland has to offer.
The 2026 convention will take place in the Oregon Convention Center (OCC), situated in in the heart of Portland's Lloyd neighbohood - just across the river from downtown and a short train ride away from Portland International Airport. The OCC is surrounded by hotels, public transit options, shopping, and iconic venues like the Moda Center and Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
When you need a break from the convention, Portland's natural wonders, eclectic culture, and culinary delights await. Sample from 500+ food trucks, dine at award-winning restaurants, go on a hike, or visit nearby wine country.
The NFA has secured discounted blocks of rooms at the Hyatt Regency Portland (375 NE Holladay St) and the DoubleTree by Hilton Portland (1000 NE Multnomah St). Both hotels are a short walk from the Oregon Convention Center. We strongly encourage staying at one of the official convention hotels, which transform into global flute hubs for the duration of the convention. This also helps us meet our required room minimum, allowing us to keep convention costs down. Booking will be available through the NFA website beginning January 12.
Protect Yourself: If you receive third-party emails claiming to offer a hotel discount, they are a scam and not legitimate. The NFA website is the only place to book your discounted hotel room.
