Five Questions with Daniel Pozzebon, Convention Director

Five Questions with Daniel Pozzebon, Convention director
Daniel Pozzebon is a familiar face to our convention exhibitors, presenters, and performers. Each year, he oversees the organization of our annual convention, making sure everything runs smoothly as we move from city to city.

Get to know Daniel Pozzebon, Convention Director: I hold a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, a second bachelor's in music, and a master's in music. After college, my career started in the theater production world as an Event Coordinator and eventually becoming a Production Director for the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Illinois. Following a move to Muncie, IN, I became the Operations Director the Emens Auditorium at Ball State University and eventually joined the NFA right after the pandemic.

How long have you been with the NFA? What drew you to the organization?

(Technically two questions, I know!)

I have been with the NFA for 3 years. I was drawn to the community and the challenge of organizing conventions in different parts of the US.

Are you a flutist (or musician)? Tell us about your relationship to music!

I'm not a flutist but am a musician. I hold a bachelor's and master's degree in Vocal Performance from Chapman University and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I have known the flute world from being the "official" page turner for my wife (collaborative pianist) who collaborates with flutists all the time.

Tell us about your job - what's a typical day like?
Organizing logistical details for the current and future conventions, reviewing contracts, bills, proposals for future locations, and doing site visits to possible future locations.

Do you listen to music while you work?

If so, tell us what's on your workday playlist!

No. I prefer my work environment to be very quiet.

What's your favorite memory from an NFA convention?

The realization that all the hard work and quick learning prior to the 2022 convention paid off when the convention was over and an overall success.

The NFA, I believe, is an amazing hub of a worldwide flute community where members living outside the U.S., like myself, are given equal opportunities. I have met so many wonderful people from all over the world through the NFA. Come on and join us! Let’s play together!”
